Somerton Park was opened in 1912.
It was closed in 1989 when the club went out of business.

Record attendance: 24,268 v Cardiff City
Division Three South, October 16th, 1937.

The stadium was also used for greyhound racing and speedway.
It was redeveloped for housing in 1992.

The photo was taken before the game against Weymouth on November 12th 1988. This was in the final season that the Club played at the ground. It was to be the last home victory to be recorded by Newport County at Somerton Park, winning 4-0 in front of a crowd of 1,238.
