1. Why you were looking forward to going to the ground (or not as the case may be):

As a loyal supporter of Birmingham city, I always follow my team home and away so I try to get as many away grounds under my belt.  We were drawn Wycombe in the league cup 1st round so I decided to take a trip to Wycombe with equally loyal dad so as this was a new ground to experience I was very excited.

2. How easy was your journey/finding the ground/car parking?

As it being a relatively short one and a quarter hour journey from the West Midlands to Wycombe and it was on a Tuesday night traffic was rather quiet so the journey down in the car was fairly relaxing. As we got into high Wycombe the ground was quite hard to find so my dad kept referring to the ground guides directions to the ground which are always extremely helpful on our away journeys. Eventually after alot of head scratching we found the ground.

On first impressions from the outside it looked pretty neat because it was all fairly modern looking although a little bland being honest. Luckily for us we found easy parking immediately straight outside the ground which meant the stress of trying to find a parking spot was put to one side until the next away day.

3. What you did before the game pub/chippy.... home fans friendly?

Outside the ground there are a few burger vans offering the usual burger and chips and greasy condiments and in the spirit of things I of course obliged and brought myself a cheeseburger which I think was around £2.50 but I’m not completely sure it was surprisingly very nice. There didn’t seem to be too many pubs around and because we arrived at 7.35 we decided against going to find one and after chomping down on the burger we got our tickets and proceeded inside.

4. What you thought on seeing the ground, first impressions of away end then other sides of the ground?

My first impressions of the ground were that it was a very neat looking. I’ve always been the type of person who loves grounds that don’t follow your stereotypical ground layout. I loved the mix of the terraced stand opposite the away end and the Frank Adams two tiered stand to the left hand side of the away end it looked a bit out of place but I loved it. What made it better was the 6 rowed stand to the right hand side of the away end which just topped it all off. It just felt like a proper football ground. The away stand felt very modern and I was pleasantly surprised since Wycombe wanderers was a League Two outfit. The away end stretches about 15 rows or so back.

5. Comment on the game itself, atmosphere, stewards, pies, toilets etc..

Well the game itself was very enjoyable as the blues unsurprisingly hammered Wycombe by 4 goals to 0 including a wonderful debut goal from Quincy. Wycombe had their moments but in the end were outclassed by a strong championship outfit. About 400 blues fans had made the journey down and sang throughout the game without wavering. At the opposite end of the ground in the terraced section it was quite clear this was where the “hardcore” Wycombe fans stood, they also sang throughout the game and made it for an enjoyable atmosphere within the stadium.

The stewards did their best to make the blues fans sit during the game to no prevail as every time this happened the Birmingham fans would start a chorus of “stand up if you love the blues....” to the amusement of everyone in the away end. Eventually they gave up but at the end still wished everyone a safe journey home which really emphasised how friendly this club is. The toilet facilities were first class and because of having already eating a burger I decided against buying a pie. The away end offers an unreserved seating system which was better for the singers that go to the away games as they can take the seats at the back.

6. Comment on getting away from the ground after the game:

As I’ve learned from various away experiences the easier it is to park the harder it is to get away. And again this was the case. Because we had parked close to the ground the police block in the parked cars until all of the pedestrian supporters had left safely. All in all it took about 20 minutes to get away from the ground which was a bit of an inconvenience.

7. Summary of overall thoughts of the day out:

Overall I thoroughly enjoyed my trip to Adams park. The ground staff and home support were friendly. I would thoroughly recommend a trip to Adams park to all fans you’ll enjoy it!
