Billy Wright was a legend not only to Wolves
but to England as well. For Wolves he made 541 appearances over 14 years
for the club (1945-1959), scoring 19 goals. During that time he picked up
an FA Cup winners medal in 1949 and three league championship medals
(1954, 1958, 1959). For England he made 105 appearances, 90 as Captain, a
record to this day shared with Bobby Moore. He also played in three World
Cup tournaments in 1950, 1954 & 1958. Billy passed away in 1994 aged 70.
The statue of him at Molineux was unveiled in 1996.
