1.
Why you were looking forward to going to the ground?
I was looking
forward to going to Molineux for a couple of reasons. First, it was the
day that Wolves were going to be crowned the Championship League
champions, this meant giant party carnival atmosphere. Plus I also like
this style stadium and enjoy going to different grounds.
2. How
easy was your journey/finding the ground/car parking?
I travelled via car with family to the match.
This was pretty easy to get to as we used a satnav, but we didn't use the
toll road but somehow cut time off our journey?! Parking was quite hard to
find and eventually around 5 mins walk away from the ground we found a car
park run by some local people, this was a bad choice as in the end over
250 cars were rammed into it, which meant it would take quite a time to
exit at the end of the game. Paying £4 was ok but it was very tight
parking but easy to find ground.
3. What you did before the game
pub/chippy.... home fans friendly?
We got to the ground around 2
hours before the match to find very welcoming and friendly Wolves fans, we
went to the Asda next to the ground which is easily spotted. There is not
that many pubs or chippy's etc near but there were a lot of burger vans
etc around the ground to use. The Wolves fans were great but as you expect
they would be if they are champions.
4. What you thought on seeing
the ground, first impressions of away end then other sides of the
ground?
We first saw the ground as we drove
down a road, this was when we saw the top of the stadium but after then we
took a turning down hill and where on Waterloo road and was at the
stadium. It is a very good looking ground on the interior and exterior
with the gold and black colours. the away stand where we (rovers fans)
where seated were in the corner of the Jack Harris stand and half the
stand was also taken by wolves fans.
5. Comment on the game
itself, atmosphere, stewards, pies, toilets etc..
The game was good
in total with the atmosphere before the match being great, the rovers fans
were good in celebrating with the wolves fans with a successful season for
both teams. the stewards and police were OTT due to the threat of pitch
invasion but overall no bother was caused. I didn't sample the pies but
did seem a reasonable price. After the initial post game build up and
wolves fans making a lot of noise the game seemed to die down and come
quiet although there were points in the game when the atmosphere was
great.
6. Comment on getting away from the ground after the
game:
In the end after 250 cars rammed into
the car park we had to wait for around 40 mins to get out, this was very
frustrating! In the end the we got out and there was not that much
traffic, but it was a but confusing getting back up to south Yorkshire as
it takes you to a toll road then takes you past it?!
7. Summary of
overall thoughts of the day out:
In all the
day was ace being a party day!.... but the rovers lost 1-0 in the end :(
due to a late header from a header after rovers mostly outplaying the
wolves. This is a worthwhile ground to visit. I would love to go again
after the new development goes ahead. Great fans and ground so good luck
in premiership in 2009/2010! |
