Why you were looking forward
to going to the ground (or not as the case may be):
I was looking forward to going to Molineux for
a couple of reasons. One reason is that it's a big stadium and being stuck
in League One for three years the only big stadiums really were
Huddersfield Town's Galpharm Stadium and Leeds United's Elland Road and I
never visited those stadiums due to ticket's selling out. The other reason
is that it isn't far to get to with me living and travelling from
Nottingham.
2. How easy was your journey/finding the ground/car
parking?
I travelled with the club coach
with a mate so I didn't have to worry about that. Although we did have to
stop on the way there for a tyre change, which meant we got to the stadium
about 20 minutes later than the other Forest fans. It was easy finding the
ground as we had a police escort which lead us to the back of the Steve
Bull Stand.
3. What you did before the game pub/chippy.... home
fans friendly?
Due to us being lead to the ground with only 30
minutes till kick off, we decided to stay close to the ground. I purchased
a burger from one of the many burger vans outside the ground, it cost me
around £2 which isn't bad considering some places charge £3 onwards. We
went into the Asda right next to the ground and it was full of Wolves fans
who were chatting to Forest fans and overall seemed very
friendly.
4. What you thought on seeing the ground, first
impressions of away end then other sides of the ground?
On our way to Molineux we spotted Villa Park
which towered over the area around it. Molineux isn't like this. After the
coaches parked about 5 minutes from Molineux, we still couldn't see the
ground. It's only when we were lead down a road towards the Steve Bull
stand that we could see it. It looks impressive on the outside but I
wasn't so impressed when I was in my seat. The away fans are quite far
back from the pitch and the view isn't the best. The other stands all look
very normal and don't have any character too them. I was a bit
disappointed if truth be told.
5. Comment on the game itself,
atmosphere, stewards, pies, toilets etc..
The game itself was
brilliant............for the Wolves fans. Wolves were 4-0 up at half time
and won the game 5-1 after a superb performance from Wolves. The home fans
created a lot of noise as did the Forest fans remained noisy throughout
and a chant of ''We're gonna win 5-4'' cheered up some miserable fans.
Their was some trouble however amongst Forest fans. Two Forest fans were
kicked out, I'm not sure why though. Also minor scuffles between Forest
fans and Wolves fans in an executive box caught my eye.
6. Comment
on getting away from the ground after the game:
We walked with some other mates who had gone to
the game via coach back to where the coaches were parked. Getting away
from the ground was easy and we were back in Nottingham around
7:15.
7. Summary of overall thoughts of the day out:
An enjoyable experience despite the result. It
was another ground ticked off and it was my friend's first away game and
he enjoyed it. Also Derby lost 2-0 to Barnsley and slipped to the bottom
of the table which made my day! |
