During that time he picked up an FA Cup winners medal in 1949 and three league championship medals (1954, 1958, 1959). For England he made 105 appearances, 90 as Captain, a record to this day shared with Bobby Moore. He also played in three World Cup tournaments in 1950, 1954 & 1958. Billy passed away in 1994 aged 70. The statue of him at Molineux was unveiled in 1996. It is situated in front of the main club reception and stand that was also named after him.
