1. Why you
were looking forward to going to the ground
(or not as the case may be):
First trip to the new improved Wembley and
the first ever visit for my two children.
2. How easy was your journey/finding the
ground/car parking?
Parked at Denham and used Chiltern railways
- excellent service and easy to get to the
stadium.
3. What you did before the game
pub/chippy.... home fans friendly?
Millwall fans were not at all friendly. It
was a case of just getting to the ground
safely.
4. What you thought on seeing the ground,
first impressions of away end then other
sides of the ground?
It was pouring with rain, didn't want to
risk hanging about outside, not many stalls
etc. anyway. Upon entering was very
impressed with the view from the upper tier,
legroom and seats. The size of the stadium
is also impressive.
5. Comment on the game itself, atmosphere,
stewards, pies, toilets etc..
Stewards were generally friendly and
helpful, however the atmosphere was
quiet/tense and never picked up even though
the attendance was over 73,000. The pitch is
terrible. Millwall deserved to win on the
day, no complaints about the result although
as said before their fans attitude left a
sour aftertaste. Not enough Police on duty.
Toilets were o.k. Did Wembley run out of
paint or ideas for the inner areas? Why is
everything so grey?
6. Comment on getting away from the ground
after the game:
We were all processed efficiently and
without too much fuss.
7. Summary of overall
thoughts of the day out:
Mixed. Wembley is an impressive,
efficient and reasonably comfortable
modern building. So is the local Tesco /
Asda / Sainsbury's. We have replaced a
beautiful listed structure with
character with another soulless
structure in the middle of a North West
London suburb. Should have kept the
original and built the new stadium by
the NEC. Wouldn't return for a football
match, especially with their current
pricing - it might be better for
concerts.
