1. Why you were looking forward to going to the ground (or not as the case may be):

Both teams weren’t having the best of seasons, and both found ourselves fighting a relegation dogfight, so this was a crucial six-pointer.

2. How easy was your journey/finding the ground/car parking?

The ground was well sign posted, and because we got into Watford fairly early, we avoided a lot of the traffic, and subsequently found parking easier.

3. What you did before the game pub/chippy.... home fans friendly?

There was a burger van round the back of the away end, which sold everything you’d expect, and a big portion of chips for £2. I found the home fans to be very friendly, and both sets of fans mingled without any trouble.

4. What you thought on seeing the ground, first impressions of away end then other sides of the ground?

Because the ground is built on a slope, a lot of the away end is beneath the level of the road behind it, so my first impressions were that the stand was very small, although upon entering I realised it was a fair sized stand, as you enter it about three quarters of the way up.

On three sides, the ground is very nice, with two similar stands behind the goals and a neat 2 tiered stand along one side of the pitch. The other stand had been closed to supporters that season, which really affected the atmosphere and overall feel to the ground.

5. Comment on the game itself, atmosphere, stewards, pies, toilets etc..

The game was fairly dull, and although it was Watford who won the match, their fans contributed little to the atmosphere. I was expecting more banter from the home fans that you share the stand with, but, disappointingly, there wasn’t much of a sound. The stewards were friendly, and the toilets weren’t the nicest, but this is an older football ground.

6. Comment on getting away from the ground after the game:

There was the usual traffic getting out of Watford, but it wasn’t too bad, and we were back on the M1 within half an hour.

7. Summary of overall thoughts of the day out:

Overall, I was disappointed with the day. It was a bad result, the atmosphere was flat and I felt the ground needed a lot doing to it in regards to the old stand along the side of the pitch.
