1. Why you were looking
forward to going to the ground (or not as the case may
be):
I was looking forward to visiting Prenton Park as i had never been to the ground before and ticket prices were cheap for the first time to see my team in pre-season action. This gave me the opportunity to visit a lower league ground as well. I had heard it was a nice ground with a fairly big KOP. 2. How easy was your
journey/finding the ground/car parking?
Me and my mate went by train to the ground we left Preston at 10.05am this got us to Rock Ferry at 12.00. On the way we had to change at Liverpool Lime Street which will be the case to many visiting supporters. The train got us there for midday which gave us time to have a good look round. On departing the train we turned right outside the station and saw a nice lady who directed us the rest of our journey which was a surprise as her first word were "oh preston fans are you?" this made us think oh no she'll show us the wrong way, but the directions were very clear and correct. We knew we were going the right way when we approached a roundabout and the Preston North End official players coach went past us pomping the horn!! From leaving the station turn right and it is a straight road up you come across a roundabout follow on through the roundabout and you will go down a road and will pass a school, Once you have come to the end of that road carry on crossing a busy road and theres a row of shops, turn right once past the shops and you will see the big KOP. 3. What you did before the
game pub/chippy.... home fans friendly?
When we arrived at the ground me and my mate were starving after
foolishly missing breakfast. We located the ground and then went on
to find something to eat on a busy main street. Only one take-away were
open, a chinese, which me and my mate took the opputunity to grab some
chips. I got chips and sausage which was a reasonable price of
£2.50.
The home fans were great after our food me and my mate went to were the players entrance was and came across 5 friendly Tranmere fans who was like me and my mate they followed their team everywhere. They were great and was talking about our player Danny Mayor who was at Tranmere on loan. The conversation was cut short when Sean St Ledger pulled up in his car and I rushed to get his autograph!! 4. What you thought on
seeing the ground, first impressions of away end then other sides of the
ground?
On walking up to the ground i thought nice ground for a league 1 club and wasn't dissapointed once inside the ground, i was one of the first fans in so saw this as an opputunity to take a picture of the KOP end and other stands. Overall prenton park gets 9 out of 10. 5. Comment on the game
itself, atmosphere, stewards, pies, toilets
etc..
The game itself was a fairly quiet one with the hardy 150 North End travelling fans making themselves heard. Tranmere started brightly with a few chances but it was Preston who took the lead midway through first half. Fair play to tranmere who before the game only had 16 senior players and no goalkeeper they kept pressing and was rewarded for their hard work with a well created equaliser. It was Preston who showed why they are in the higher league in the second half tranmere, with Preston making it 2-1. The stewards were great you didnt even no they were there only before the match when the same question was asked over and over again by them!! Toilets didn't go down too well with north end because if you sat closer to the KOP you had to walk to the other end of the stand for the toilet! 6. Comment on getting away
from the ground after the game:
Getting away after the game was easy as we knew the way back to Rock Ferry station it took us about 15 minutes and we was back in Preston an hour earlier than we expected getting back at half 7 which was great. Overall Prenton Park is a great ground i reccomend all League One
teams fans to pay a visit to this upcoming season maybe we will get to
mark prenton park a regular away day sometime in the future. the day out
gets a 10 out of 10 and finally i wish tranmere the best of luck in the
upcoming season 2009/10. |
