1. Why you were looking forward to going
to the ground (or not as the case may be) This was to be one of the 7 games I was most looking forward to this season, Tuesday night 6-7 hour trip from Bradford to Swansea in February! The main reason for the excitement was the reviews I had read about Swansea’s new stadium, and pictures I had seen suggested it was very impressive. I was also looking forward to a fiery game with one of the top teams in League 1 and finally seeing Trundle in action at his home ground. 2. How easy was your journey/finding the ground/car parking? How easy is a 7 hour journey on a Tuesday right across England into Wales? VERY, we had a great time messing on the Shipley Bantams supporters coach. The ground was easily found and the lights were visible from some distance. As we went on a coach, parking was easy and we backed in next to the official coach and team coaches. 3. What you did before the game pub/chippy.... home fans friendly? Before the game we had a quick wander around the ground and had a peek inside through a gate, I decided to say rather loudly that it was rather small, much to the bemusement of 2 local “chav” ladies who promptly gave me evils! Laughed it off and made my way to the turnstiles. 4. What you thought on seeing the ground, first impressions of away end, then other sides of the ground. Very impressive, small but has character and is different to other new grounds. Looks very good from the outside as well as the inside. The concourse was very spacious and the tunnels were large and had a big concrete paddock type concoction at the front where there were stewards. 5. Comment on the game itself, atmosphere, stewards, pies, toilets etc... Game itself was rather good a 1-1 draw which was probably about right, would have been 1-2 if DEANO hadn’t have slipped and missed an open net, but you win draw and lose some. Home fans a bit quiet until they scored. We took about 150 down which were decent for a valentines Tuesday night! We made a lot of noise and even got commented on a few swans websites after the match, our contribution probably helped with the presence of a drum. Food was great and service was fast due to a large amount of people serving, first stadium I have been to where all kiosks are open even for a small ish following! Toilets were brand new but did have graffiti, some of which was quite funny! Not to be repeated on here. Stewards were great I took my drum in and they helped me in with it and then one of the stewards took £2.50 and got me a programme from outside the ground. Very Impressed! They even took the anti Wales chants in good humour. 6. Comment on getting away from the ground after the game Easy to get away from the ground, also encountered no problems with the home fans. Looked forward to a bit o kip for the 7 hour journey ahead! 7. Summary of overall thoughts of the day out Excellent journey would definitely recommend the new stadium! |
