Shrewsbury Town v Hereford United

I visited the ground for the first time on February 23rd to watch my team Hereford United. Getting to the ground could not be simpler if
coming by coach as we were literally dropped off outside the entrance to the away end. The stadium from the outside looks very impressive. Only after a few yards walk we were inside the stadium where we found the staff to be friendly. And as you would expect for a new ground, it was clean and tidy. Only two real complaints; lack of toilets for the large away following and inside the stadium, the wind really seemed to whip through the open corners.
With this game being a local derby, Hereford took 1,700 fans; the biggest away following so far to visit the New Meadow. The atmosphere was very good as you would expect with a large away following. One thing that I did find strange, was that rather than there being one main group of Shrewsbury fans singing together, there seemed to be three groups of singers scattered around the ground. I guess that this may change once they are more settled in their new home.
The catering was first class and prices were okay. Plus being able to watch Sky Sports News at half time was great. Shrewsbury fans are very lucky to have such a brilliant ground to watch their team, I might even have to admit that I think it is better than Edgar Street.
Leaving the ground after the match had ended was no hassle at all. So to sum up a very enjoyable day made even better with our team getting three points. After going to the old Gay Meadow ground on
many occasions, then the new stadium is a lot better.
