1. Why
you were looking forward to going to the ground (or not as the case may be):
It was the last game of the season and my team Tranmere were lying in 7th place
needing to take all 3 points of Scunthorpe who were lying in 6th place I just
couldn't wait for the game to begin
2. How easy was your journey/finding the ground/car parking?
Journey was very straight forward as I travelled with the official supporters
coach. It took 3 hours to get there with no stop offs in service stations.
3. What you did before the game pub/chippy.... home fans friendly?
Before the game began I went to the old farmhouse pub, the pre match atmosphere
was brilliant with about 400 Tranmere fans in the beer garden singing and
partying around there were a few Scunthorpe fans amongst the Tranmere fans and
were very friendly.
4. What you thought on seeing the ground, first impressions of away end then
other sides of the ground?
I had previously been there a few months before in the Johnston's Paint Trophy
and thought it was a nice little ground. The view from were I was sitting was
great as I was in Row D just behind the goal. There were supporting pillars in
the way of some fans views who sat further back.
5. Comment on the game itself, atmosphere, stewards, pies, toilets etc..
The game itself finished 1-1 with a late equaliser from Scunthorpe in the 88th
minute to send there fans into raptures and left Tranmere fans in devastation.
The atmosphere from the away end was electric with more than 1600 supporters
crammed into the AMS stand with beach balls, toilet roll and other items. The
atmosphere generated from the home stands was a little disappointing but
understandable as Tranmere were on the front foot and were 1-0 up for most of
the game. The toilets were very small and crampt and the stewards at Glanford
Park were very friendly.
6. Comment on getting away from the ground after the game:
Getting out of the stadium took several minutes as the police were giving the
official coaches a escort from the ground but had to handle with other matters
on the pitch as jubilant Scunthorpe fans were celebrating on the pitch.
7. Summary of overall thoughts of the day out:
On the whole the day out before and during the match was amazing to be apart of
with such a big crowd, atmosphere and match, the only thing that spoiled the day
was obviously the goal Scunthorpe deservedly scored with 2 minutes to go
crushing my hopes and dreams for another season.
