1. Why you were looking
forward to going to the ground (or not as the case may be)?
As a Sheffield United fan, I was hoping that we could give Reading a run for
their money at the Madejski, and possibly extend
our lead at the top of the Championship. We also wanted to see if the
comments people made last season about the stadium were true, and so they
were.
2. How easy was your journey/finding the ground/car parking?
Apart from the ground being in the middle of nowhere, it was relatively easy
to find. Car parking was okay.
3. What you did before the game pub/chippy.... home fans friendly?
After not being able to find an
'Away pub', we decided to enter the ground.
The home fans outside the ground seemed friendly enough.
4. What you thought on seeing the ground, first impressions of away end then
other sides of the ground.
From the outside the ground is very impressive. From a distance it looks a
lot bigger than it is, but it is still a nice ground for a Championship
team.
5. Comment on the game itself, atmosphere, stewards, pies, toilets etc..
The game was cracking for 60+ plus minutes, until the referee failed to
award an obvious penalty to the Blades for the decapitation of Keith
Gillespie!! Okay, he should of sent our keeper off as well, but it was a
blatant penalty! Then, in the 89th minute, Reading
stole the game and scored! The atmosphere was
fantastic, except (bizarrely) Reading fans singing "We are top of the
league", when the mighty Blades were still 3 points clear!! And also, the
"Easy" chant, when the game had belonged to the Blades until their second
goal? Stewards were friendly, and the toilets OK. Food and drink were quite
expensive but not as bad as other places.
6. Comment on getting away from the ground after the game.
Poor stewarding meant it took 1 1/2 hours to get
out the car park, and back onto the M4.
7. Summary of overall thoughts of the day out.
Cracking game, except the result. Nice stadium, loyal and noisy (at times)
fans and friendly staff and stewards. |
