1. Why you were looking forward
to going to the ground (or not as the case may be):
Yes I was very
excited about this fixture as this was to be my first away game
of the season. The one bad thing we were too late to get a ticket in the
away end & were forced to sit with the home fans. 2.
How easy was your journey/finding the ground/car parking:
We went
on train, which was easy as I live in Nuneaton. There is
a straight through train operated by London Midland to
Northampton. The ground is not that far from the station, about a 20
minute walk. On the way, we passed plenty of pubs, as
well as the impressive looking rugby ground.
3. What you did before the game
pub/chippy.... home fans friendly?
As we have arrived very early,
we first went into the town centre and found a Wetherspoons, which was
full of Leicester fans. Outside there were a number of Police keeping an
eye on things. After that we went straight to the stadium. We did
find a pub near it, but as it was completely full we were unable to get
in. Instead we had to console ouselves with a visit to Frankie &
Bennies'.
4. What you thought on seeing the ground, first
impressions of away end then other sides of the ground?
I didn't
think much to the ground, although it did deem pretty new. It was unusual
though to view the centre of the pitch from the top of a high bank outside
the stadium.
5. Comment on the game itself, atmosphere, stewards,
pies, toilets etc..
The game was brilliant and the support from the
Leicester fans was great. Although we were located right next to
them, we could not join in as we were in the home section, in fact we
remained quiet throughout the game! Some other Leicester like us, had also
sat in with the Northampton fans but were thrown out, as they cheered
when Leicester's first goal went in, after Northampton had taken an early
lead. You could also see some Leicester fans sitting on top of the
grassy bank outside the stadium, watching the game. The
stewards seemed to be poor as they couldn't really handle all
the Leicester fans. But the game was brighter with Leicester taking
the lead.
6. Comment on getting away from the ground after the
game:
Well we left 5mins before the end to catch are train. When we
got to the station the train was full of Leicester supporters who looked
to have really enjoyed their day including me. 7. Summary of
overall thoughts of the day out:
Well a memorable day for me as
this is the first time I ever sat in thehome end supporting the away team.
2-1 was good result for Leicester playing a good side. I would go back to
Sixfields Stadium as a neutral, as it was a great day out.
