1. Why you were looking forward to going to the ground (or not as the case may be): I was really looking forward to this game because it
was the first match of the season and the first since Stockport's
promotion to league. 1. I was also looking forward to seeing the stadium
because I had heard good reports about the Galpharm stadium.
I came by coach and was fairly easy to get to the
ground. The journey was mostly motorway so took about 1 hour. There is a
large car park around the ground which is available to all . The ground is
fairly easy to find with it being fairly close to the city
centre. Before the game I went into the ground at about
2.30pm. The home were friendly and I didn't see any trouble at the
game. There certainly was a 'wow factor when seeing the
ground from inside for the first time. The most impressive stand is to the
left of the away end. It is 2 tiered and looks over the pitch brilliantly.
Behind the opposite goal is another 2 tired stand which is very steep so
would offer a great view. To the right of the away end a single tiered
stand which was full on my visit. All the stands have curved roofs which
makes the stadium unique and brilliant. It reminds me of the Reebok
stadium at Bolton. The away end is impressive. offers a great view, has
good facilities with a Ladbrokes outlets and a program seller.
The game itself was a good one with the legendary
Booth giving Huddersfield the lead. Just before half time the impressive
Tommy Rowe scored. There were no to be any more goals in the second half.
A draw was probably a fair result. The atmosphere inside the ground was
decent all game with the 2,000 plus travelling fans singing all game. The
pies inside the ground were good, but there were no burgers or hot-dogs on
sale which I found a bit strange. After the game getting away was fairly easy with there
being hardly any traffic even though there were 16,000 people attending
the game. |
