1.
Why you were looking forward to going to the ground (or
not as the case may be):
Living in Wales, I can only make a few
home games, so generally rely on going to away games within an hour or so
of my location (Newport). So Hereford is probably the closest to me.
2. How easy was your journey/finding the ground/car
parking?
Absolutely straight forward, through Usk on to the A449,
through Monmouth, left at the little thief (chef sorry!) and on into
Hereford. Please note that on the road into Hereford (A49) there was a
sneaky camera van - be aware! Ground was in the centre of town, parking
right outside £1 for 4 hours.
3. What you did before the game
pub/chippy.... home fans friendly?
Arrived at about 1.00 so a quick
stroll into the centre (5 mins) lots of pubs, restaurants, shops etc. Had
a wander around and a bacon roll in a small cafe, headed back to the
ground.
4. What you thought on seeing the ground, first impressions
of away end then other sides of the ground?
The ground has seen
better days, bought a programme and asked for the away end to be told that
the end terrace had been condemned so we would be in the stand around the
corner. The pitch looked superb, really good playing surface and the view
from the top tier of the stand was great.
5. Comment on the
game itself, atmosphere, stewards, pies, toilets etc..
Good
atmosphere, stewards very friendly, food ran out during the game (new
caterers, probably didn't expect us to bring 400). Gills were on top much
of the game and were unlucky not to score, but an exciting nil - nil draw
nonetheless. Chant of the match, on hearing a solitary vuvuzela - "one
vuvuzela, you've only one vuvuzela".
6. Comment on
getting away from the ground after the game:
Bit of a queue getting
out of the car park but everyone seemed to be going towards the South
East, so heading towards Wales, it was fine.
7. Summary of
overall thoughts of the day out:
Great day out, reasonable result,
nice town centre, C'mon the Gills.
