1. Why you were looking
forward to going to the ground (or not as the case may be):
I always liked going to away matches with Derby because of the atmosphere
the Derby fans make at every away match. I decided
to go to this one as three mates were also going,
so I decided to join them. We got some of
the last tickets available,
but still managed
to get four tickets next to each other.
2. How easy was your journey/finding the ground/car parking?
It was fairly easy for us as were going on one of the
Club's supporters coaches, that picked us up in Ashbourne, before
another pick up at Pride Park. However, the
coach was over a half an hour late, so we were relived to see the bus
finally come down the road to pick us up. The
journey was fairly easy going and
after just 90 minutes we were in Crewe.
3. What you did before the game pub/chippy.... home fans friendly?
We headed off to a to a McDonalds which
we all enjoyed and the home fans caused
us no trouble despite us teasing them when we were
on the coach by showing off our scarves.
4. What you thought on seeing the ground, first impressions of away end then
other sides of the ground?
The ground is dominated by one huge stand, which was to the left of the end
we were in. To the right was a small stand
which was full to brim with
Derby fans. The opposite end looked similar to the stand
we were in which was full of Derby fans. The
ground looked pretty small compared to Pride Park
but the view was good and the leg room was fine also.
5. Comment on the game itself, atmosphere, stewards, pies, toilets etc..
The game was brilliant both fans keeping up an atmosphere through out most
of the game. The first half saw Derby go 1-0 up after 15 mins through
Rasiaks header from a corner and Derby dominated most of the first half and
we should of been 2 or 3 nil up. I didn't buy any thing from the ground but
from what I saw the food seemed ok and was at a
reasonable price. The second half saw the home side improve and
started to push for an equaliser but only for a defensive error to make way
for Tommy Smith to take the points seem safe
with 20mins to go. Crewe didn't give up and 1 min to go Vaughan scored a
great goal from 20 yards out to give Derby a nervous time in stoppage time
but Derby held out for a deserved 2-1 win. The stewards was good and we had
a chat to one of them who was also a Derby
supporter and he enjoyed the game as much as us.
6. Comment on getting away from the ground after the game:
Getting away from the ground was easy for us as we
just got back on the coach and
were dropped just outside of Pride Park and we made our way home from
there.
7. Summary of overall thoughts of the day out:
It was a very good day out and I would love to go to see Derby play Crewe at
the Alexandra Stadium again and I enjoyed
the day out very much. |
