| What's The Ground Like? |
|
The Dripping Pan ground has almost been completely rebuilt in recent
years, making it one of the better stadiums in the league. Although the
facilities are new the club have played at the stadium since 1885 and
even with the latest re-development it retains a unique character. This
is predominantly because the ground is
built into the side of a hill; in fact one side of the ground resembles the
side of the hill, with just a path way running across the top of the
grassy bank, where some spectators elect to watch the game. Due to the
location of the ground you enter at the very top of the terrace and
descend into it. One end is a large steep terrace that has unusual
looking perspex roof. To one side of this terrace, which is called the
Philcox Stand, is the Club House and
team dressing rooms. Like everyone else the teams have to get down to
the ground, so there is a set of stairs running down to the pitch side
from the dressing rooms. Knowing how unlucky my team is, I could see
visions of our leading striker slipping down the stairs and doing
himself an injury before the game had even started! Opposite is a small
open new terrace opened in 2007. The Terry Parris Terrace as it is
called, is allocated to away fans. On one side is a new smart looking
Rookery Main Stand.
This covered all seated stand has been given a bit of a continental feel
having sunken dugouts located in front. In one corner of the ground near
to the away fans terrace is a small electric scoreboard.

| What Is It Like For Visiting Supporters? |
|
If
segregation is in force, then away fans
are housed in the Terry Parris Terrace at one end of the ground.
This terrace is open to the elements, so hope that it doesn't rain. It
is unclear at the moment whether away supporters will be allocated a
portion of the Rookery Main Stand, but one would hope so. Catering is
provided via the obligatory burger van, this sells amongst other things;
Cheeseburgers (£3), Chicken burgers
(£3), Hot dogs (£2.80), Pies (£1.50) and chips (£1.50).
Lewes is
a pleasant town to visit and so is the club, where a warm welcome
awaits.
|
| Where To Drink? |
|
There is a Club House at the ground, which has real ale on offer in the
form of the locally brewed Harveys Best Bitter. However with segregation
now in force at the ground, it is unclear whether away fans will be
given access to this bar before kick off. Otherwise a few minutes walk away is the Kings Head pub.

| How To Get There & Where To Park |
|
From the A27 take the A277 towards Lewes. After around a mile you will come
reach a set of traffic lights where you turn right into Winterbourne Lane.
At the bottom of the Lane you will reach a mini roundabout, where you turn
left. Now keep straight along this road crossing two more mini roundabouts
and you will reach the ground on your right. There is a small ‘pay and
display’ car park at the ground, otherwise street parking. |
| By Train/Metro |
| Lewes Station is situated only a few minutes walk away from the from the ground. It is served by trains from London Victoria & Brighton. |
