Oakwell Barnsley v Blackburn Robers Saturday, December
29th, 2012
Championship League, 3pm
By Callum Atkins
1. Why you were
looking forward to going to the ground?
I was looking forward to attending Oakwell as for what I saw it
looked like a decent ground when I checked this website on the eve of the game
2. How easy was your journey/finding the
ground/car parking?
The journey was a easy one a
half hours, as I travelled
to the game by the club coaches.
3. What you did before the game pub/chippy....
home fans friendly?
I didn't speak to any home fans but we just got of
the coach and bought a programme and went to the
club shop so my mate could buy a match badge.
4. What you thought on seeing the ground, first
impressions of away end then other sides of the
ground?
I thought it was not a bad ground on the whole.
But I didn't understand why the old West Stand
was open, when there were hardly any home fans in
there. I guess it doesn't help that
most of the seating in this
stand is uncovered. The away
end I thought was pretty decent, with
a good view. It was
unreserved seating with around 1.700 Rovers fans in attendance.
5. Comment on the game itself, atmosphere,
stewards, pies, facilities etc..
The game was awesome. Rovers
players had put 100% effort in
for Gary Bowyer as Henning Berg
was sacked just days before. Rovers took the lead
through a amazing run from Josh
king, followed by a second
scored by Rochina before
half time. Then Barnsley nicked one back, but to
settle the nerves super Rhodes scored in the dying seconds of injury
time. Whilst celebrating the goal I dropped my
wallet and ipod which were
soon returned to me by a vigilant
steward.
6. Comment on getting away from the ground after
the game:
Ut was very easy - straight
out on coaches .
7. Summary of overall thoughts of the day out:
A great day after Christmas,
a pretty decent ground apart from the West Stand
, great stewards, and a good three
points for Rovers to end a
bad run.
